The 19-year-old performer is the front runner to join Simon Cowell and LA Reid on the judging panel of the talent show.
TMZ claims that although she hasn't yet received an offer, studio executives have singled her out as the favourite.
Other stars in the race for the coveted job are Miley Cyrus, Avril Lavigne, LeAnn Rimes and Fergie.

Demi would bring with her a very strong fan base including her nearly seven million Twitter followers and a younger demographic for the show.
