Derek Hough heading to Nashville
Derek Hough will join the cast of US TV drama Nashville.
The Dancing with the Stars professional, whose sister Julianne has already made a successful transition from choreographing on the US TV talent competition, will now join the cast of Nashville.
Deadline reports Derek will feature as part of a multi-episode arc in the upcoming third season of the ABC country music drama co-starring Hayden Panettiere and Connie Britton.
The dancer will reportedly take on the role of Noah West, “a beguiling and disarming movie star” who has been cast to play a famous country singer in his latest project.
Derek will have a busy TV season ahead. The 29-year-old is also set to return to the upcoming 19th season of Dancing with the Stars.
A growing star in his own right, Derek catapulted to fame as he began working on the series back in 2007, partnering with celebrities like Kellie Pickler and Nicole Scherzinger.
He’s since been nominated for five Emmy awards for his work on the show, winning for Outstanding Choreography in 2013.
His work as an actor began back in 2001 when he had a small, and uncredited role, as a Hogwarts Schoolboy in Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone.
In 2011, he appeared on US TV comedy Better with You.
Last year he also led the cast of dance feature Make Your Move, about a pair of rival dancers in New York City.
The writers of his new show meanwhile welcomed him to the cast with their own announcement Thursday.
“So excited for @derekhough from @DancingABC to be joining our fantastic cast! Get pumped, #Nashies!! #ABClove,” the message from @NashvilleWrites read.
Derek responded shortly after, writing that he “can’t wait”.
