Dermot: Closest X Factor year ever

Dermot O'Leary has declared this year's series of The X Factor the closest ever.

Heading into the semi-final, early leader Andrea Faustini has been overtaken by Ben Haenow as the bookies' favourite, but Dermot believes Lauren Platt and Fleur East are also in with a chance of victory.

He revealed: "This year is just the strangest year. It's a good year, but it's the strangest year in the fact that you feel it's so wide open.

"I never know the vote - but they told me last week that something like just 800 votes separated whoever was second from bottom, which would have been Lauren, because Stereo Kicks went out on the vote, and the third person.

"So it's so close."
