Charlie Dimmock has said she got bored with all the fuss made about her not wearing a bra on TV show Ground Force.
The gardener was dubbed "horticultural Viagra" during the height of her fame on the show with Alan Titchmarsh and Tommy Walsh.
But Charlie, 46, said: "All that business about my bras, or lack of it, got very boring after a while.
"I didn't wear one because if you're swinging a pick axe or a sledgehammer, they're very restrictive. Even a sports bra rides up and can be hot and uncomfortable to wear for hours at a time, and on the show we often worked 12 hours a day.
"And sex symbol? Well, it was flattering, I suppose, but not how I thought of myself at all."
Ironically, it was wearing a bra that landed Charlie in trouble when she appeared as Celia in the 2010 stage show Calendar Girls.
"Celia's the first to strip in the show and I was supposed to be just wearing a dressing gown and pearls. But one night I completely forgot to take my bra off," she said.
"I walked on and Sue Holderness hissed at me, 'You've still got a bra on!' We had to fake an embrace so she could discreetly help me out of it."
