Nina Dobrev has warned of a "gut-wrenching" season finale to Vampire Diaries in which "people will die".
The actress also revealed that when the hit show returns, "it's assumed" she will have to take on a third version of her character, who will be the original to the two doppelgangers she currently plays.
The 22-year-old brunette says there's a shock climax to the second season - due to air in the States later this month - that puts much of the action so far in a whole new light.
Nina - whose character Elena is caught up in a love triangle on the show - recently fuelled speculation that she is dating her co-star Ian Somerhalder, by telling a teen mag in the US: "It wouldn't be unusual."
Vampire Diaries is shown in the UK on ITV2.
