Dornan fears daughter won’t recognise him

Jamie Dornan thinks it’s “awful” how much his daughter changes when he’s away working.

The Fifty Shades of Grey star has a 13-month-old daughter with wife Amelia Warner. But the Northern Irish actor admits he struggles with how quickly his little girl grows up every time he travels for work.

“I’ve had to be away the last couple of weekends, and I come back and I barely recognise her, and it’s awful; she changes so much,” he told the British edition of Elle. “And then I have this huge fear that she won’t recognise me.”

As well as working on the highly anticipated adaptation of the E.L. James novel, the 32-year-old has also been busy filming hit TV series The Fall.

The hunk does his best to keep his facial hair, which his baby loves, but he isn’t always successful.

“The beard helps, but I had to shave it off a couple of times, so she’s been shocked for the first few hours. She looks at me like: ‘Do I love you? I think I love you.’ I have to win back her trust,” he explained.

During the interview, Jamie also discussed the views held by some that 50 Shades is anti-feminist. After carrying out research for the role, it’s safe to say that the father-of-one doesn’t agree.

“I can understand why people say tying a woman up and spanking her is misogynistic. But actually, more men are submissives than women. Very powerful men,” he revealed. “It’s a far bigger scene than I imagined: in pretty much any city in the world that you could name, people want to get spanked with a paddle with studs on it.”
