Douglas 'hopeful' about marriage

Michael Douglas has said he hopes that things are "on the up" when it comes to reconciling with Catherine Zeta-Jones.

The Hollywood couple announced in August that they were separating after 13 years of marriage.

Michael told The Tonight Show that he felt positive about their future.

When Jay Leno asked him how the estranged couple were doing, he replied: "Good, I hope. I've been away for a while, but everything should hopefully be on the up and up."

The Behind The Candelabra star added: "Sometimes people take a little bit of a break, but (it) doesn't necessarily mean that's the end. So, I'm very hopeful."

His comment came after Catherine was spotted wearing her wedding ring in New York last week.

Michael also told the show that his 13-year-old son Dylan wants to follow his parents' footsteps and become an actor.
