Downton stars sworn to secrecy

Downton Abbey star Allen Leech has revealed that the show's cast are sworn to secrecy about the upcoming Christmas special.

The actor, who plays former family chauffeur Tom Branson in the ITV period drama, said this year's festive episode is "a good one" but declined to give any more away.

He told The Mail on Sunday's Event magazine: "I'm bound by the vows of Downton. We say nothing. We don't tweet, we don't slip up.

"There was a moment last series when Richard E Grant (who played art historian Simon Bricker) got out his phone and was about to tweet when he had to be stopped.

"Dan (Stevens, who played Matthew Crawley) was the worst. He tweeted that there would be a Christmas special before it even happened. That was big trouble."
