Drew Barrymore tries to 'live on the high road'
Drew Barrymore makes it her mission to try and "live on the high road" in her life.
Drew Barrymore is a better person because she's a mother.
The 41-year-old actress is mother to three-year-old Olive and two-year-old Frankie with estranged husband Will Kopelman. Drew and Will announced their split earlier this month (Apr16), but the most important thing in both of their lives is their daughters.
Drew explained during Safe Kids Day on Sunday (24Apr16) that she is determined to show her girls how important it is to take work seriously.
“I think it’s good to show my kids I’m passionate and have a good work ethic and that you have to earn what you have in this world,” she told Entertainment Tonight. “(Motherhood’s) just made me such a better person.
"I always love and try to live on the high road. I think you feel best when you behave or react or come from the high road place. And my kids have elevated that for me in a way that is indescribable."
Drew recently added to her tattoo collection with inkings of her daughters' names on her wrist. While she had "wanted to do it for a while", it was when she was at a yoga class that Drew made the decision to go ahead with the etchings.
“They’re my favourite people on the planet, and just seeing it every day makes me happy," she added. "Always remember what’s important and that joy is in everything… they are my joy."
Miss You Already star Drew recently had reason to celebrate as Frankie marked her second birthday on 22 April. The actress threw a huge bash for her daughter, complete with a photo booth, a balloon creator and a cake from the family's favourite bakery Sweet Lady Jane.
“The whole family was there and all the in-laws and all of Olive’s friends from school,” she said. “It was awesome.”
