Duff and husband ‘enjoy date nights’

Hilary Duff's secret to maintaining a successful relationship after childbirth is scheduled "dates" with her husband Mike Comrie.

The 25-year-old singer wed Mike Comrie in 2010 and the couple now have a son called Luca together, who was born in March last year.

The former Lizzie McGuire star has reportedly managed to maintain a passionate marriage since her tot's arrival thanks to regular date nights.

A friend of the star's revealed how as Luca gets older, Hilary feels more confident about leaving him with trusted babysitters, so she can spend quality time with Mike.

"Her family babysits so they can go on dates," a friend told Us Weekly. "They make time for each other."

The friend explained that whereas Hilary enjoys going out with her former hockey professional husband, she also likes to stay in at home.

Both the actress and the 32-year-old sportsman believe it is the combination of nights out and time at home bonding with their little one that has contributed to their successful relationship.

"[The couple] have sweet nights at home with Luca, cooking dinner and watching movies," the friend added. "They're closer than ever!"

As Luca approaches his first birthday, the happy parents have already started to think about adding to their brood. Hilary discussed the idea of a brother or sister for Luca with Access Hollywood, where she revealed another child could be coming soon - although there's no rush just yet.

"Mike and I are literally so obsessed with Luca. He's perfect! We should just be one and done," Hilary told Access Hollywood Live recently. "But I think once your kid starts getting older you miss that baby phase and you go in for round two."
