Duncan Bannatyne's spokesperson has responded to remarks the star's brother made about him in a recent interview.

Duncan Bannatyne's spokesperson insists he is "fiercely proud of his working class roots", following comments the star's brother made.

The millionaire businessman is currently competing in reality TV show I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here!, where he's been seen telling posh Lady Colin Campbell there is "nothing wrong with being poor". Duncan's brother Bill hit out at this during an interview with Britain's The Sun newspaper, claiming Duncan should take some of his own advice on board.

The former Dragon's Den star's representative has now released a statement on his behalf: "Duncan is fiercely proud of his working class roots in Clydebank and has been consistent about this in all the years of his success," it read. "He has spoken about his background with pride in public, in his book and on TV in the jungle. He has a large family, most of whom he is on excellent terms with."

It's not the first time Bill has openly criticised his sibling, with the pair thought to have fallen out around a decade ago. The businessman's spokesperson insists the timing of the recent remarks is highly important.

"His brother has talked like this in public before, particularly at high profile moments in Duncan's career," the representative added. "This time Duncan is unable to answer back because he is isolated in the jungle."
