Duncan Jones announces son's birth six months after David Bowie's death
David Bowie's son, the film director Duncan Jones, has announced he welcomed his first child exactly six months after the death of his father.
Jones's wife Rodene Ronquillo gave birth to their son on July 10, half a year after Bowie, 69, lost his battle with cancer.
The Warcraft director announced the new arrival on Twitter saying: " Stenton David Jones. Born July 10th, exactly six months after his grandad made room for him. Love you both so."
The message was accompanied by a cartoon of two parents with a baby.
Jones, 45, also paid tribute to his wife, saying: " All my love and awe to the incredible @rodeneronquillo who made a human being in her belly. Warrior woman & every day, my hero."
The baby would have been Bowie's first grandchild.
Jones announced the new arrival as Bowie's towering musical legacy was remembered at the Proms as a host of diverse musicians came together for a creative reimagining of his work.
Former Soft Cell frontman Marc Almond, The Divine Comedy star Neil Hannon and American singer Amanda Palmer were among the artists putting their own spin on works from the late star's career.
The Bowie Prom, held as part of the Late Night BBC Proms on Friday, featured interpretations of records ranging from his 1969 album Space Oddity up to his final release, Blackstar.
After the concert, Jones wrote on Twitter that he had missed the event because he was out of the country, saying: " I'm in LA and did not see it yet. Heard wonderful things though."
