Eamonn Holmes: I'm so in love with Ruth I want to renew our wedding vows
Eamonn Holmes has told how he would love to renew his wedding vows to his wife Ruth Langsford – who still gives him "butterflies".
Belfast-born Eamonn and Ruth recently celebrated their third wedding anniversary and are as loved-up as ever.
The couple are presenting This Morning on ITV every day during the summer holidays while regular hosts Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield take a break.
Eamonn and Ruth celebrated their anniversary with a romantic candlelit dinner.
Eamonn, who also hosts the Sky News breakfast show, described himself as the romantic one in their relationship and said he would love to renew their vows every year.
Comparing couples renewing their vows to "retaking your driving test", Eamonn said: "Every so often it's a good thing to refocus the mind and concentrate on what you are doing.
"Maybe more marriages would be saved if we were all called in at some point and asked, 'How's it going? Are you happy to renew your vows?'
"Suddenly people would appreciate their partner because it's easy to start taking each other for granted."
Taking each other for granted doesn't seem to be an issue for the couple who wed in 2010 and have one child together, 11-year-old Jack.
Eamonn also has three children from his first marriage to Gabrielle – Declan (24), Rebecca (22), and Niall (20).
"Ruth still gives me butterflies," Eamonn told Hello! magazine.
"She still leaves me slightly breathless and there's nothing I can do about it. I'll never forget seeing Ruth in her wedding dress for the first time, walking towards me... she looked amazing.
"I look at her and think, 'I am so looking forward to growing old with you. There's nothing about you I won't still love when we're 90'."
Smitten Ruth adds: "Sometimes I'll see Eamonn when I'm not expecting to and my stomach does a little flip. I may not be as much of an old romantic as Eamonn, but he knows how much I love him – and how much in love with him I am."
However, Eamonn may be waiting a while before he gets Ruth to say "I do" again.
"Eamonn loved our wedding day so much he said he'd renew them every year if he could. But it's a little soon. It's a bit, 'What are you trying to prove?' Ten years I understand," she said.
Ruth Langsford and Eamonn Holmes – both 53 – met 17 years ago but only married in 2010. They live in Surrey with their son Jack. The pair's on-screen chemistry and often fiery exchanges continue to draw viewers in. Eamonn began his career at a Belfast-based business magazine and later at UTV.
