EastEnders scoops awards hat-trick
EastEnders has picked up a hat-trick of awards at a celebrity-filled showbiz bash.
The soap came out on top at the TV Choice Awards, which were held at the Savoy Hotel in central London.
It was named best soap, while its stars Shane Richie and Jessie Wallace - who play husband and wife Alfie and Kat Moon - won the best soap actor and actress gongs respectively.
But Jessie was notably absent from the event - after weeks of tabloid speculation following the cancellation of her wedding to Vincent Morse.
According to reports, the actress dumped her fiance after he sent explicit pictures of her to a former lover.
The awards also recognised Coronation Street, with Paula Lane, who plays Kylie Platt, winning the prize for best soap newcomer.
The dramatic tram crash that marked the show's 50th anniversary was named best soap storyline.
