Zac Efron is sporting a bandage on his right hand and wrist after injuring the joint while falling on the set of his new movie Townies.
The 25-year-old actor was filming Townies in Los Angeles when he apparently fell down and hurt the joint, according to TMZ.
A spokesperson for the star has yet to comment on the extent of the injury or how the incident occurred.
Zac was seen walking in the city on Thursday sporting a large bandage on his right hand. He seemed otherwise unharmed.
The actor is starring opposite Seth Rogen in the comedy about a family man who is neighbours with an alpha-male fraternity house.
He has to deal with a raucous college student, played by Zac, whose irresponsible actions makes Seth’s character’s life unbearable.
Townies, directed by Nicholas Stoller, is scheduled to be released next year.
It was unclear at press time how Zac’s injury would affect the production.
The actor doesn’t have much of a break after filming is completed. His next film, thriller You Belong to Me, is currently in pre-production.
Zac has enjoyed his share of mainstream success in the wake of his High School Musical series.
The actor is still best known for playing the lead role of Troy Bolton in the Disney Channel original movie franchise.
He has previously admitted he had low expectations after starring in the first film in 2006. Zac spoke about how he now sees the significance of his part in the cultural teen phenomenon.
"Here's the one thing about High School Musical, that a lot of people forget or don’t realise. It affected a lot of people, its resonance, culturally, was massive… and at the same time, it was in every sense of it, the luckiest break in the world," he recently told Flaunt magazine.
The star said he will never turn his back on his fans from the series.
"The wrong thing to do - and that’s what all these interviews now are trying to get me to say - is to turn on it. But that’s insane,” he said.
