Zac Efron has reportedly sparked concern among his friends.
Last year it was reported that the 26-year-old actor had secretly been to rehab, although the reason why was never confirmed. He was thought to have a sober coach, although pals are said to be concerned about the way his life is now heading.
Earlier this week the High School Musical star was involved in an incident in a dubious area of downtown Los Angeles. He claimed he and his minder were attacked after their car ran out of gas, with suggestions he was in the area to get sushi. Those close to the star are reportedly extremely concerned about the rumours.
TMZ reports friends are "worried sick" about the star, with one telling the site: "Zac's a loner. He goes out rarely and the idea of him driving for miles to go to some sushi restaurant in downtown LA after midnight is preposterous."
The area of Los Angeles where Zac and the bodyguard were is apparently full of homeless people, with suggestions drug dealers frequent it too.
The actor allegedly told police he was hit in the face by someone following a misunderstanding about a bottle which was thrown from his car. The punch was reportedly hard enough to leave the star bleeding and he was quoted by a source as saying it was hardest he had ever experienced.
There are mixed reports about whether the guy with Zac is his bodyguard or not.
In 2013 it was widely reports that the actor had completed two top secret stints in rehab. TMZ is now questioning this, claiming the actor actually got "private therapy" at a friend's home rather than treatment at an establishment.
