Efron's pals ‘fear for future’
Zac Efron's friends are reportedly worried he is in danger of following in the footsteps of Cory Monteith.
It has been reported the High School Musical actor had two stints in rehab this year for cocaine addiction.
Cory entered a facility when he was 19 and again earlier this year to overcome his substance issues. Sadly the Glee star relapsed and was found dead in his Vancouver hotel room in June from a heroin and alcohol overdose.
Those close to Zac are worried his behaviour is resembling that of Cory's and they are worried it could end badly.
"Friends are genuinely worried about him, because if Zac relapses like Cory Monteith did he'll likely go back to using the same amount of drugs he was doing before rehab. And it will kill him," an insider told RadarOnline.com.
It is thought the 25-year-old's drug use was caused by several factors, including his struggle to make it in the movie industry and romance issues. These negative aspects are believed to have made him turn to cocaine after allegedly being introduced to the drug by friends.
"Zac had been on a downward spiral since 2011, he was just good at hiding it and not getting caught. He was partying because he was unhappy and basically just didn't give a f**k," the source added.
Zac reportedly had a close call two years ago when his close friend and Nickelodeon star Ryan Rottman was arrested for Driving Under the Influence (DUI) while he and actress Rumer Willis were in the car. He is said to have been relieved he wasn’t behind the wheel that night as the consequences could have been worse.
"When Rottman got the DUI Zac was in the car with him and he knew how lucky he was that he wasn't driving at the time. He was super careful ever since," the insider revealed.
