Electra: Music inspires me
Carmen Electra is hoping to incorporate music into her career more than ever before.
The 42-year-old is best known as an actress in Baywatch and as a Playboy model. But now she is set to release a new song called Around the World and she couldn’t be more excited.
“Throughout my career, I’ve been involved with music a little bit while working on films and other projects,” she told Billboard. “Every time I get a chance to be involved with music, it makes me feel more complete. It inspires me in so many ways, and I miss it so much while I’m away from it.”
Carmen was originally discovered as a singer in the early 90s by Prince. Then at the end of 2012 she worked with producer Bill Hamel on I Like It Loud which saw her perform around the world.
“This has been really exciting and I’m learning so much,” she added.
As well as her singing, the beauty also has her sights set on becoming a professional DJ. She was inspired after portraying one in her new movie Chocolate City.
“I was fascinated with scratching, especially with the girls who could do it,” she said. “I’ve been hanging out with one of my best friends who’s married to [Beastie Boys turntablist] Mix Master Mike, and I really want to go backwards and learn how to scratch and know how to do that.”
While many people would stress about trying to juggle more than one career, Carmen relishes the chance to perform live as well as continue with her acting.
“I’m staying really busy,” she smiled, “but everything I’m doing is fun.”
