Elisha Cuthbert has said she wants her TV show Happy Endings to be "a marathon".
The Canadian actress plays Alex in the sitcom about six friends living in Chicago, which first aired in winter 2011.
"I want this to be a marathon. I don't want this to be, y'know, a short race," Elisha said.
On the show's first episode, Alex ditched her fiance Dave (Zachary Knighton) at the altar. The pair are set to resume their romance in the new series.
"I'm excited about getting to be an actual, legit couple with Dave... I'm looking forward to that," Elisha said.
The 29-year-old actress - who starred as Jack Bauer's daughter Kim in the hit TV series 24 - revealed the stars of the show were "very much a team".
She added: "I think that comes across on camera. We just really care about the well-being of our show and each other."
