Elizabeth Banks seeks "balance" in her family affairs.

The Man on a Ledge actress and her husband Max Handelman have nine-month-old son Felix together, who was born out of surrogacy.

Elizabeth and Max fell in love with each other in college and have since established a dynamic relationship.

The couple co-own a production company and Elizabeth is happy to labour alongside her partner.

"Working together provides a lot of balance in our life and it's a way for us to [see each other], because I travel so much for work," Elizabeth explained to the March edition of Women's Health magazine.

Welcoming Felix into the family has been a great joy for Elizabeth and Max. Although all is well now, the star admits that parts of the surrogacy process were challenging at times.

"It helps that other moms had said that once they had their babies, they forgot they were ever pregnant," Elizabeth shared. "So once my focus became the baby and not the pregnancy, it was a very easy decision."

Elizabeth feels deeply supported by her husband Max as she endeavours to be a good wife and mother.

"I have an amazing marriage and it will be long-lasting. I think I'm a good mom," Elizabeth gushed. "I could run for office, no problem, because there are no skeletons in my closet. Not that I would run for office?"

Elizabeth and Max have been together for 19 years.

Man on a Ledge was released in the US last weekend.
