Ellen: Jen and Justin's wedding was so exciting!

Ellen DeGeneres has opened up about Jennifer Aniston's surprise wedding to Justin Theroux.

The talk show host was one of a select number of guests invited to watch the former Friends star say 'I do' with Justin Theroux on August 5. Around 70 people were in attendance and they'd all been told the event was a party in honour of Justin's 44th birthday. Once they arrived the group discovered it was the couple's eagerly anticipated wedding, with news only breaking afterwards.

"We're friends with them obviously for a long time and so, I know how long they've been trying to plan this," Ellen explained to ET. "So the fact that they got away with it for as long as they did before it leaked out, it was exciting."

Other stars who attended including Jennifer's Friends co-stars Lisa Kudrow and Courteney Cox, with Courteney acting as maid of honour. Talk show host Jimmy Kimmel presided over the ceremony, shock jock Howard Stern gave a speech and Sia performed.

According to Ellen, the day couldn't have gone any better.

"All of it was amazing. Jimmy Kimmel was hilarious and Sia sang and that was fantastic. It was just a fun night. It was a beautiful night," she enthused.

"I love them both and they're both great people and deserve the happiness."

Jennifer and Justin tied the knot at their home in Bel Air, California, and it's been claimed they actually hired out the neighbouring property so they could store wedding decorations there and move them into their home without anyone noticing.

That they pretended they were having a party comes as no surprise, as Jennifer has previously joked that whenever she holds a bash people expect it to be some covert nuptials.

"It’s funny actually; our friends Sacha [Baron Cohen] and Isla [Fisher, his wife] have shown up for four parties, four little gatherings, about a year ago, they would show up in beautiful wedding wear," Jennifer previously laughed on Ellen's TV show. "Even like the 4th of July last year, they showed up and Sacha was in a powder blue suit and Isla was in a little cute dress. And we were like, 'Guys, it’s the 4th of July, we’re in cut-offs and eating hotdogs. We will actually let you know!'

"But Thanksgiving I had a friend who said, 'I can't come this year but should I?'"
