Ellie Kemper: Fey is faultless
Ellie Kemper loved Tina Fey’s controversial quips at the Golden Globes.
Tina and her friend Amy Poehler hosted the Golden Globes last weekend, where they had people laughing with their sharp wit.
No subject was off limits, which the stars proved when they made a dig at comedian Bill, who has been accused of sexually assaulting at least 17 women, including model Janice Dickinson.
“In Into the Woods, Cinderella runs from her prince, Rapunzel is thrown from a tower for her prince, and Sleeping Beauty just thought she was getting coffee with Bill Cosby,” Amy deadpanned at the show, with the hosts then proceeding to make Bill impressions, adding in references about pills.
“Loved the Cosby joke. Loved the whole North Korea stuff. Margaret Cho was amazing,” Ellie, who stars in Tina's’s Netflix show Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, told USA Today.
Ellie was also referring to a skit where Tina and Amy got comedienne Margaret Cho to play a North Korean “general”.
In Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, Ellie plays a woman who decided to reclaim her life in New York after 15 years in a cult. She relished every moment of working under Tina.
“She’s fantastic,” she gushed. “You all read about it in [Tina's book] Bossypants. She’s is so down to earth and focused and kind.
“She was there every day on the set. She and Robert [Carlock, the show’s co-creator] are writing the show, so they were in the writers’ room. One of them would always be on set to make sure that things were running smoothly.”
