Elton John’s family ‘complete’
Sir Elton John and David Furnish feel their family is now complete.
The British singer and his partner have two-year-old Zachary together and welcomed their second son Elijah into the world in January. It’s believed the boys were both born using the same surrogate.
They love being parents, but David has insisted they won’t be expanding their brood any further.
“Our family is now complete,” he told MailOnline. “We really wanted a second child so that the boys have a companion in each other. They really need each other. But we won't be having any more.”
The couple have spoken about the profound effect parenthood had on them previously. David called having two boys “unbelievable”, while Elton tried to explain the depth of his feelings for his children.
“I have learned that a parent’s capacity for love is endless,” he said following Elijah’s birth. “When another child is born, our depth of love just grows deeper and wider, so it was very emotional.”
Elton and David held their annual White Tie and Tiara Ball on Thursday night. The glamorous event is used to raise money for Elton’s AIDS foundation, with stars including Elizabeth Hurley, Uma Thurman. Jerry Hall, David Gandy and Natalie Imbruglia in attendance.
Speaking before the event, David assured fans the tots would be safely tucked up in bed during the festivities.
“The boys will be on the other side of the house. But Coldplay will be playing in my back garden. We're hoping to raise £5 million on the night,” he explained.
It was certainly a special night for one guest, with Elton announcing his friend Matthew Morrison’s engagement to Renee Puente while on stage. He then performed a duet of Your Song alongside Chris Martin to mark the occasion.
