Emily Blunt: I'm Slowosaurus with technology
Emily Blunt can't understand how children are so good with technology.
The 31-year-old actress and her husband John Krasinski became parents in February, when she gave birth to their daughter Hazel. Becoming a mother has changed the star's outlook, not least because she is starting to feel old.
"I think kids are just remarkable on these things," she laughed to E! News about gadgets. "I'm a dinosaur with them. I barely know how to turn things on. She's going to teach me more than any computer class."
Emily's new movie Into the Woods, which is based on the Broadway play of the same name, is an amalgamation of fairytales. It's made the star and her husband realise how important traditional stories are when raising children, which is another reason why she is steering the tot towards books rather than computers.
"She's nine months old but she understands. She sits on me, this little thing, and she understands," Emily said.
"Turning a page already and going on a journey. I think that's amazing. I think everything is on a gadget nowadays and I just want her to have the satisfaction I had as a kid. You want things to be sensory for kids."
Into the Woods has an all-star cast, with Meryl Streep playing The Witch who tries to teach characters from other fairytales lessons. Johnny Depp joins as The Wolf, with Emily starring as The Baker's Wife, Anna Kendrick as Cinderella and Lilla Crawford as Red Riding Hood.
Although it's a musical, Emily insists that those who dislike films that break into song must give it a chance.
"He cried. He absolutely loved it," she said of her husband. "I think he was so moved by it, by what it's saying to this generation and that idea of nobody being alone at the end. It's such an amazing theme running through this film."
