Emily Blunt: Motherhood’s heaven
Emily Blunt thinks being a first-time mom is “the best thing ever”.
The Edge of Tomorrow actress gave birth to her first child, Hazel, in February with husband John Krasinski. Speaking at the premiere of her new movie Into the Woods, Emily was asked if being a parent was everything it was cracked up to be.
“It is that and more,” she gushed to People magazine. “I know that everybody says that. Everybody says, ‘Oh it’s the best’ — it’s the best thing ever!”
The 31-year-old is trying to juggle caring for Hazel with her acting career. But she admitted there was no way she could have prepared for the situation before she gave birth.
“You don’t know what to expect because it’s just completely, existentially out of anything that you’ve ever experienced before, and it’s quite indescribable,” she confessed before trying to sum it up. “It’s heaven.”
While Emily has motherhood down, she’s been pushed out of her comfort zone in her latest role. Into the Woods sees the British beauty starring alongside Meryl Streep and singing on screen for the first time.
“I was really, really nervous — reluctant, even, to the point of not wanting to audition for it,” she added, before admitting her chance to work with her Devil’s Wear Prada co-star again convinced her to go for it.
“It was an alluring idea” she said. “It was great! Not really a different dynamic; she’s torturing me yet again. I feel like I’m just forever destined to grovel at her feet on camera, ya know. It’s fine by me!”
