Emma Watson: Addictions aren't me

Emma Watson

Emma Watson feels "lucky" that she doesn't have an "addictive personality".

The actress has always done her best to be a good role model to her young fans and enjoy a clean life. However, she understands that some of her Hollywood peers have struggled to cope with fame and have developed harmful addictions.

"I started travelling and working away from home when I was nine, and there would have been so many opportunities there if I'd wanted to take them," she told the UK edition of Glamour. "If I'd wanted to get blind raving drunk I could have done; if I wanted to do drugs I could have done. Luckily I don't have an additive personality, and I don't really drink."

However, Emma insists her life isn't boring.

She still loves to have fun and unwind with friends and family when she isn't working.

"I'm not sensible," she insists. "I'm just me, I guess."

Emma shot to fame playing studious witch Hermione Granger in the Harry Potter movie franchise.

The 22-year-old beauty admits it has been difficult for her to maintain normality following the success of the films.

"I won't lie to you - it's not been easy," she explained. "Celebrity is definitely the hardest part of what I do. But you just have to hope that people look past all that - past the overblown hype of the industry - and see you."
