Ethan Hawke 'gets royal treatment'
Ethan Hawke’s Oscar nomination has people in his home area thrilled.
The 44-year-old actor picked up a best supporting actor Academy Award nod last week for his role in Boyhood, which has been sweeping the board this awards’ season.
On Monday the star attempted to take a break from the hype by enjoying a breakfast out with his wife Ryan and their children Clementine and Indiana. They picked a low-key venue for their meal, going for Junior’s in the Brooklyn area of New York City. However, the star wasn’t allowed to forget his honour with people continuously wishing him well as he ate.
“He was being congratulated by everyone, and shaking hands. He exclaimed to his server, ‘You guys are treating us like kings!’” a source told New York Post.
Ethan and his family live in Brooklyn, with the actor previously saying he likes it there because it’s not as hectic as Manhattan.
“Brooklyn is about the barometric pressure of New York turned down about 20 points,” he laughed last month.
Boyhood has been a runway success during awards ceremonies so far. Richard Linklater received the best director Golden Globe and Critics’ Choice Award, where it also won best picture. The movie is nominated for six Oscars in total and even thought Ethan has been in the running for one of the golden statues in the past, he’s still nervous.
“I've spent 30 years training for how to handle this, and it's emotionally complex even for me,” he told Vulture.
"How do you feel if you get nominated, and how do you feel if you don't? Whenever the eye of the Zeitgeist turns to you, it's challenging -there's aspects of it that are a little fun, and there are aspects of it that are really confusing.”
