Eva Mendes: Motherhood is a learning curve

Eva Mendes thinks other mothers would tell her to "shut up" if she said she enjoyed being kept up by her baby daughter.

The 41-year-old actress and her boyfriend Ryan Gosling welcomed their daughter Esmeralda in September last year.

She's still adjusting to parenthood and admits she hasn't found any downsides to the job yet.

“I’m actually enjoying the sleepless nights, because it’s bonding with my little girl,” she gushed to Women's Health magazine. “I want to respect all the moms out there. They’re going to be like, ‘You know what? You’re a few months in. Just shut up.’ ”

In January, Eva presented at the Hollywood Stands Up to Cancer event, where she managed to muddle up her lines. However, she won the audience over when she jokingly explained it was down to her lack of sleep as a new mum.

“You know, we’re getting the hang of it, the sleeping thing, but yeah I’m exhausted and it’s the best," she smiled during a recent conversation with chat show host Ellen DeGeneres.

“Really, I’m so incredibly tired. I thought I was tired before at times, but no. Nothing like this, but I wouldn’t have it any other way."

The star and her 34-year-old partner Ryan are notoriously private and have managed to keep their little girl hidden from the paparazzi. Last week they were spotted out with their baby, but covered her carrier with a blanket.

"Whether we like it or not, privacy is going to be very difficult for Esmeralda. I think it’s unfair but that’s our reality. So Ryan and I decided early on to give her as much privacy as we could," Eva previously explained.
