Evangeline fancies Orlando

Evangeline Lilly has joked she had her sights set on Orlando Bloom while filming The Hobbit.

The actress plays Tauriel in the fantasy franchise, with second instalment The Desolation of Smaug released at the end of last year.

Her co-stars are largely male, with Martin Freeman, Sir Ian McKellen and handsome Orlando all in some of the main roles.

While Evangeline says the cast enjoyed flirting with her, she added that it was her trying it on with the actor, who recently announced his split from wife Miranda Kerr.

"When they realised I was around, they suddenly all behaved and started flirting like mad," she grinned to German magazine Bravo.

"With Orlando it was the other way round. I was hitting on him," she laughed.

With her great looks, and as the only woman regularly on set, it's no wonder the cast responded so well to the 34-year-old.

And Evangeline wasn't put off by being in the minority.

"I love being surrounded by that many men," she said.

"Orcs, Elves, Hobbits - they were all so sweet! I had a great time with these boys. And when I say 'boys', I mean it! They really act like kids and always came up with ridiculous ideas. They were always playing pranks!"

Evangeline divulged that Adam Brown, who plays Ori, was the "best flirter".

She might have been popular with her co-stars, but many fans have complained about her character, as it doesn't appear in the books.

"This is how I look at it: I'd rather be hated than go unnoticed," she reasoned.

"I know what it's like to be unpopular. During my time on Lost a lot of people were hating on me! I've gotten used to it - and it's kind of cool to have so many people talking about me."
