Ex-rapper Ashley Walters in a flap filming BBC drama Cuffs

Former So Solid Crew rapper-turned actor Ashley Walters got in a bit of a flap filming his latest role as a streetwise cop - because he has a phobia of birds.

Broadcast magazine reported t he star, who plays a police officer in the forthcoming BBC drama Cuffs, had to "overcome his o rnithophobia" for a scene where he chased a thief through a crowd of pigeons.

He said: "The first time I did it, I flinched. A group of tourists said 'that was crap', so I had to grin and bear it on the next take and run straight through them."

Walters is joined in the crime drama, described by the BBC as "authentic and visceral", by Sherlock star A manda Abbington and former Hollyoaks actor Alex Carter.

The show, which is filmed in and around Brighton, is by Julie Gearey, who has written episodes of Coronation Street, Prisoners' Wives and Secret Diary Of A Call Girl.
