Lena Dunham has learned to cope with her "germaphobe" beau's aversion to dirt.

Lena Dunham's rocker boyfriend Jack Antonoff has an unlikely fan in iconic feminist Gloria Steinem.

The 82-year-old women's rights icon was on hand to present trophies at the 2016 Matrix Awards, a ceremony devoted to acknowledging women who have achieved excellence in the field of communications, in New York City on Monday (25Apr16).

Lena was among the prizewinners and speaking to People magazine reporters at the event, she couldn't help but gush about her fun. star boyfriend, noting he is Gloria's "number one fan".

And it appears his admiration for her is mutual - Steinem thinks he possesses all of the personality traits a feminist looks for in a boyfriend.

"He's actually a human being," she shared. "It's a person that knows there are human beings, that each one is unique and there are no groups."

Lena agrees with Gloria's take on feminist-friendly boyfriends, noting Jack is always supportive of her when she opens up to him about the less than positive experiences she's had as a woman.

"He never dismisses it when I feel I've experienced something that was gendered or misogynistic," she said of her longtime beau. "He never dismisses it or plays devil's advocate. He listens to me and lets me figure it out, which I feel lucky about."

But although the Girls star heaped praise on Jack throughout the event, she couldn't help but poke fun at him too.

The funnywoman and the musician celebrated their four-year anniversary as a couple last week (end22Apr16) and nearly half a decade into their romance, Lena has learned to cherish the odd parts of his personality.

"He's a horrible germaphobe," she quipped when asked about her partner's least fun quality. "I can't leave the house and come back in without showering; there are a lot of limitations on what I can do."
