Ferguson hails Lovato 'tough story'

Former X Factor contestant Rebecca Ferguson has hailed Demi Lovato for her work on mental health issues after the American singer was reportedly being lined up to become a judge on X Factor.

The Liverpool singer said the Let It Go star had a "tough story" after battling depression and she supported her work to raise awareness of the condition.

Speaking ahead of her performance at a concert to mark the 70th anniversary of VE Day, Ferguson, 28, said: "I do like Demi, I like her story. I think she's quite a tough story.

"She does a lot for people with mental health problems. I support anyone that advocates that and is bringing awareness to the public.

"I feel like it's an issue in England that isn't tackled enough, especially within our NHS. I don't feel the care is there as it should be.

"Anyone that is open and honest about what has gone on in their life, I support."

Asked whether someone in her family had been affected by mental health issues, Ferguson replied: "I think everyone in their family has got people who have problems, and I'm one of them."

Lovato, 22, has apparently been in talks with Simon Cowell about appearing as a judge on the next series of X Factor, according to reports.
