First glimpse of new Charlie show

Creators of the new West End stage version of Charlie And The Chocolate Factory have given their first glimpse of the production.

The show - which opens later this month - has been directed by Oscar-winning filmmaker Sam Mendes, and stars Douglas Hodge as factory boss Willy Wonka.

The cast of the eagerly anticipated musical also includes former Young Ones star Nigel Planer as Grandpa Joe, with young newcomer Jack Costello as Charlie Bucket.

Previews of the show were delayed last month due to the late delivery of some of the stage equipment.

The show - based on the enduring children's book by Roald Dahl - is being staged at the Theatre Royal Drury Lane.
