First-class cast for Postman Pat

Stephen Mangan will voice Postman Pat in the new film

A first-class cast has been assembled to bring the adventures of children's favourite Postman Pat to the big screen, including Stephen Mangan in the title role.

Green Wing star Stephen will voice the famous postman in Postman Pat: The Movie - You Know You're the One, alongside contributions from Harry Potter star Rupert Grint, former Doctor Who David Tennant and Oscar winner Jim Broadbent.

The film will show Pat tempted away from his hometown of Greendale and his cat Jess by the bright lights of fame after he enters a television talent show.

Stephen said: "I'm absolutely thrilled to be playing the world's best-known postman in his big screen debut - he's an iconic British hero and it's a great script. However when I excitedly told my three-year-old son that I was going to be Postman Pat, he said, 'No you're not, dad, don't be silly'."

Pat, who was created by children's author John Cunliffe, first appeared on television in 1981 and since then millions of books and DVDs have been sold.

The film starts production this month and will be in cinemas in spring 2013.

Virgo:

Read the fine print on a contract. If you're not happy with the proposed terms of a deal, renegotiate. Don't be afraid to drive a hard bargain. You may not realise it, but you have a great deal of power. People are willing to pay good money for someone with your intelligence and experience. If you undersell yourself, you will set a dangerous precedent. Someone will ask you to do something that goes against your conscience. Obey your principles, even if it means making an enemy.More
