Firth suffers 'wedding day nerves'

Colin Firth and wife Livia arrive for Oscars night

Colin Firth said he was suffering from "wedding day nerves" as the hot Oscar favourite arrived at the Kodak Theatre for the 2011 Academy Awards.

"It's rather like wedding day nerves," he told the waiting media. "Except I don't know who's getting married."

The British actor looked calm and relaxed in a Tom Ford suit as he walked into the theatre with wife Livia.

"I feel different this end of the red carpet to the other end," he quipped.

But despite being the big favourite for the Best Actor gong, the actor was modest when asked how he would be celebrating.

"Will I be celebrating?" he asked.

Colin greeted his co-star Geoffrey Rush on the red carpet as the start of the ceremony approached.

The Australian revealed he had texted Colin to say he would not be too worried even if The King's Speech lost out in every category.

Rush told Sky Movies Premiere: "Even if the whole film goes home empty-handed, because there are historical precedents for that, this film has scored with audiences and in our working relationship."
