Flack heads backstage on X Factor

Caroline Flack has a new X Factor role

Caroline Flack is set to take an Xtra role - as a backstage presenter on The X Factor's live shows.

The Xtra Factor host, who will continue to present the ITV2 spin-off show with comedian Matt Richardson, will chat to contestants before they perform and capture the excitement and nerves behind the scenes, while Dermot O'Leary remains as the main host.

Caroline said: "I can't wait to help out Dermot on The X Factor and share all the backstage antics with people at home. Live shows this year are going to be the best yet."

Dermot, who will keep the judges in check and get the contestants' reactions after their performances on stage, added: "It's a big family at The X Factor and I'm thrilled to have Caroline on board on the main show. She is my TV little sister and she'll be great."

The ITV programme will kick off the live shows on October 12, with an 80s theme for the first episode.
