Christine Bleakley has set the record straight on her last four turbulent years in television – and all those wild wedding rumours.
In a magazine interview, the presenter from Newtownards, Co Down, claims she wasn't as upset as she was reported to be after being axed from Daybreak in 2011. And she also confirmed her long-awaited wedding to Chelsea and England footballer Frank Lampard will most likely take place in autumn 2014.
The 34-year-old said she prefers being "out and about and meeting real people", as she prepares for a starring role in a new UK travel series called Off The Beaten Track, which airs this week.
In 2010 Christine made a high-profile transfer from BBC's The One Show to ITV, but since her arrival at the network, her projects – That Dog Can Dance, Daybreak and Dancing On Ice – have been either a critical or ratings disaster.
But Christine says she was never "desperate" to leave the UK, or became depressed over a supposed career crisis.
"I don't think I was ever as down as people thought I was," she said.
Despite swirling rumours about a date being set for her wedding, Christine says there hasn't been one yet.
"Hopefully, fingers crossed I'm in the World Cup, we would like to do it after that," the footballer added.
Meanwhile, it's been confirmed Christine will front Text Santa again this Christmas and the final series of Dancing on Ice, and her fresh start with new travel series, Off The Beaten Track, starts this Friday at 8pm on ITV.
