Gabriel Byrne ties knot with long-term girlfriend

Spliced: Gabriel Byrne

Irish actor Gabriel Byrne has wed his long-time girlfriend, Hannah Beth King, in a secret ceremony attended by family and friends.

The reception in Cork was hosted at Ballymaloe House on Monday after the couple had spent several days relaxing in Dublin.

The couple arrived in Ballymaloe on Friday and maintained a low profile until their wedding at a strictly private ceremony 48 hours later.

The Allen family, who own Ballymaloe, stressed that it is their policy not to comment on their guests.

However, Hazel Allen admitted that it was "a fabulous occasion" for everyone involved.

Guests were treated to a special wedding menu including east Cork lamb, Ballycotton shellfish and vegetarian platters from the Allen kitchen.

The actor and his new wife also enjoyed a quiet afternoon stroll around the Ballymaloe gardens to relax during the day long festivities. They also celebrated by buying a book in a bookshop in Midleton.

The Irish actor, who is now 64, was previously married to the New York-born actress, Ellen Barkin, with whom he has two children.
