Gary Oldman: I'm having a ball
Gary Oldman has revealed his biggest fear on Oscar night is looking like a "blithering idiot" if he wins.
The Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy star is facing strong competition from the likes of Jean Dujardin and George Clooney in the Best Actor category, but he said he's enjoying awards season.
"I've had a ball," he said at a consular reception honouring the British nominees. "We're having fun, and I'm excited about Sunday, really. I don't have any nerves, I don't know whether my stomach will suddenly go wobbly when I get there, but I'm looking forward to it."
Despite his protestations that Jean Dujardin is likely to scoop the award, Oldman confessed he's got an acceptance speech at the ready.
"There's five of us, one of us is going to win, you know what I mean, so at least prepare something so you don't get up there and look like a blithering idiot," he laughed.
"But I don't think I'll have any need for it. I think the Frenchman should be preparing the speech."
