Gemma Collins prompted to rebrand after turning 35

Gemma Collins is taking her time to reevaluate her life and "have a bit of a rebrand" after turning 35 in February (16).

Gemma Collins is "having a bit of a rebrand" after her time on Celebrity Big Brother earlier this year (16).

The 35-year-old star first shot to fame on reality show The Only Way Is Essex before forays into other television shows such as a brief appearance on I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here! and a lengthier stint on CBB.

Her time in the house saw her hit the headlines for antics such as criticising a hairdresser who came in specifically to give her a blow dry and letting her alter ego, the much feistier "GC", take control.

But since having a chance to watch her time in the house back, Gemma has decided to reevaluate her priorities.

"I am having a bit of a rebrand," Gemma told the Daily Mail Online while attending an event at the Cannes Lions festival. "I think I hit 35 and it's like I don't need anyone telling me what to do, please don't push me into situations. I'm obviously not the same girl I was four years ago, whether you like it or not."

Gemma now struggles to go anywhere without being recognised. But she isn't letting the fame go to her head, and credits her family for keeping her grounded.

"My life has really changed, but you know I go round to my mum and dad's for a roast on a Sunday and they're just there going, 'Have you paid your bills? You've got another parking ticket, your nephews want picking up from school'," Gemma smiled. "So it brings you straight back down to earth."

But her reality television career has given Gemma a second chance at life, and when she appeared on the programme working in a car dealership four years ago, she could never have predicted where she'd end up.

Now she regularly attends red carpet events, such as Wednesday night's (22Jun16) yacht party alongside stars including Blac Chyna and Jonathan Cheban, who she appeared with on CBB.

"This is what I say to all the girls who are out there. I had a dream," Gemma said. "I sat there spinning around on my chair in BMW thinking, 'Is this what life has got to offer me?' And boom, TOWIE came along. I never thought four years ago I would be in Cannes with Blac Chyna!"
