The 54-year-old actor has been hugely successful since his breakout role on TV medical drama ER. With an Academy Award under his belt and directing credits to his name, his résumé is pretty impressive, but George doesn’t know how much his spouse has paid attention to it.

“I don't know if she has [seen ER]," he admitted to Entertainment Tonight. "I actually don't know that. I don't drill her on my jobs, I'm a little more interested in her jobs.”

The 37-year-old beauty works as an international human rights attorney, recently visiting the Maldives to help the country’s deposed president Mohamed Nasheed secure his freedom. Her career meant the couple had to postpone celebrating their first wedding anniversary, having tied the knot in Venice last September (14).

The pair reunited when they hit the red carpet for the 15th anniversary screening of George's movie O Brother, Where Art Thou? in New York on Tuesday night (29Sep15).

“We sure are having fun," George added to People magazine at the event. “We had a beautiful anniversary, and we're having fun.”

However the star couldn’t share any lessons he had learnt in the first year of being a married man.

“That's a good question,” he laughed. “But I can't officially tell you any of those things because that would be wrong, and she would be upset that I told anyone what I've learned.”

George was happy to take a trip down memory lane with his spouse on the night. His work on the Coen Brother’s movie is one of his best known roles, and fans still quote the film to him on a regular basis.

“I always hear, ‘I'm a Dapper Dan man’ or ‘We're in a tight spot'," he told Entertainment Tonight. "And I've been hearing that literally for 15 years straight. So I'm here to put it to bed tonight."
