Gerard Butler: I love to whine

Gerard Butler

Gerard Butler claims he's no hard man in real life as he likes whining too much.

The Scottish actor stars as Mike Banning in Olympus has Fallen, a disgraced presidential guard who finds himself battling terrorists. Gerard has laughed that he is totally different to his on-screen alter ego.

"Probably none. I am cowardly and a whiner," he joked, when asked by Heat magazine which of Mike's traits he shares.

Gerard cites Christian Bale as the ultimate action hero of his generation, praising his portrayal of Batman in the popular film franchise.

The star is also a huge fan of Bruce Willis, who is famed for playing tough guys such as John McClane in Die Hard. Although Gerard admires Bruce's acting, there is actually another reason why he is so loyal to him.

"Bruce Willis. I love him, he gushed. "He's a badass - so smart, yet so raw. He always has that glint in his eye and that curled-up smile on the side of his mouth. We were at an Oscars party this year and this incredibly annoying woman would not shut up. He came and grabbed me and said he had something to tell me. Of course, I was thinking, 'Wow, Bruce Willis! This is going to be really important.' But he said, 'I was just coming in to rescue you from that girl!' I said, 'You are the f**king dude man. I love you!’”
