Geri: I cringe at X Factor cameo

Geri Halliwell has admitted that she cringes thinking about her guest judge role on The X Factor.

The former Spice Girl told the Sunday People that she now accepts she wasn't right for the job, even though she had hoped for a permanent seat on the judging panel.

She said: "I did my best, but I was the new girl for one day. I look back and cringe. I was disappointed I didn't become a full-time judge, but accepted it wasn't meant to be. Thank God sometimes I don't get what I want when I want it. I'd have probably f****d up."

Geri was shipped in for one day of auditions to choose contestants alongside Gary Barlow, Louis Walsh and Tulisa in 2010.

At the time she got stick from viewers as well as the other judges for her long-winded critiques of the auditions she saw.

Now a judge on the Australia's Got Talent panel with Dawn French, Geri said: "Now I do feel ready to be part of a show that celebrates people, and gives them an opportunity."
