E! News has insisted speculation about a bad relationship between Giuliana Rancic and Maria Menounos is completely untrue.

Giuliana confirmed she was leaving her post as an anchor on the programme yesterday, following a ten-year tenure. It's now been suggested that Maria, who joined the company last year, is being lined up as her replacement. This is said to be causing some raised eyebrows because there have been multiple reports that the two women don't get on.

"E! are begging Giuliana to have a public meeting with Maria — to hand the baton; give her her blessing," an insider told New York Daily News' Confidenti@l column.

"Giuliana has said, ‘No way.' She wishes Maria the best, but there’s no way she’ll do it.”

However, the channel has insisted the claims are wholly inaccurate and that no such discussion has taken place.

New York Post has another report about the situation, claiming Giuliana and Maria are like "oil and water" and haven't been able to get along that well.

In her statement, Giuliana insisted she was sad to be leaving E! News and would miss her family on the show. She'll still work with the channel in some capacity, including on Fashion Police and Live from the Red Carpet.

The star is also planning to relocate to Chicago with her husband Bill and their two-year-old son Duke.

It's been a difficult year for the star, who has been at the center of several controversies. Whispers about her health began after she appeared very slim on red carpets at the start of the year, causing her to speak out in April. She revealed that medication she takes following her battle with breast cancer has altered her metabolism, meaning she is thinner than she'd like to be.

She was also criticised for joking that Zendaya looked like she smelt of "weed" when she appeared at an event with dreadlocks. The gag sparked outrage and was the catalyst for Kelly Osbourne and Kathy Griffin leaving Fashion Police.
