Goody goody gumdrops for TV stars

A triumphant trio have won a place in the MasterChef final - after putting a smile on the faces of some of the biggest stars of 1970s comedy.

Andrew Kojima, Shelina Permalloo and Tom Rennolds dazzled stars of programmes such as Butterflies, The Goodies and Are You Being Served? to secure their positions as finalists.

They will now compete in the three-night final to be screened next week, with the winner crowned on Thursday night.

To secure their spots in the final three, former diversity manager Shelina, 29, plasterer Tom, 26, and research analyst Andrew, 33, prepared treats for afternoon tea at smart London restaurant Sketch.

Among the well-known faces they had to impress were Goodies stars Bill Oddie and Tim Brooke-Taylor, Open All Hours actress Lynda Baron, Wendy Craig from Butterflies and Frank Thornton from Are You Being Served?.

Then they were put through their paces to serve pastries to experts in the field at MasterChef HQ.

Next week the final three will be seen taking on further challenges - including working in Michelin-starred kitchens in Holland, Belgium and London - before a winner is crowned by presenters John Torode and Gregg Wallace.
