Gosling is real-life hero in NYC
Ryan Gosling has once again proved his hero credentials by saving a woman from getting hit by a taxi.
The Drive star - who last year broke up a street scrap in New York's East Village - was praised for his latest act of valour on Twitter by British writer Laurie Penny.
She told followers: "I literally, literally just got saved from a car by Ryan Gosling. That actually just happened.
"I was crossing 6th avenue in a new pink wig. Not looking the right way because I am from London. Ryan Gosling grabbed me away from a taxi."
But Penny, a feminist, later complained that media coverage of the incident portrayed her as a "damsel in distress".
She wrote on Gawker: "I refuse to be cast in any sort of boring supporting female role, even though I have occasional trouble crossing the road, and even though I did swoon the teeniest tiniest bit when I realised it was him."
Last summer, The Notebook star Ryan was filmed putting down his shopping bags and stepping in between two men, who were arguing over a painting in St Mark's Place, as bystanders stood by. He physically restrained one of the men and helped to diffuse the situation.
