Grace Woodward believes Cheryl Cole's image change during her ill-fated spell on the US X Factor was all about "fitting in".
Grace, stylist for the last series of the UK X Factor contest and a judge on Britain And Ireland's Next Top Model, said it was not surprising that Cheryl went for a new look, with bigger hair and brighter clothes, during her short spell across the pond - but that she didn't really need to.
"(It's the same with) all of us, if we go somewhere else, we want to fit in and to me, I think it looked like Cheryl was going, 'I'm going to do a big, bouncy Hollywood look' and actually I think that she was doing it anyway, she didn't really need to," said Grace.
"But anybody would be nervous, transferring countries and into the biggest job potentially in the whole wide world. I think she's a very conscientious, hard-working girl and I think that she was just trying to fit in."
Asked if she thought Cheryl might make an appearance on the next UK X Factor, she said: "I really, really have no idea. You know what - Simon and the whole X Factor team like to keep people on their toes and keep everyone guessing so who knows what will crop up."
Grace was similarly unsure about her own X Factor future. Asked if she was working on it again this year, she said: "I don't know yet. I mean last time, I found out two weeks before we started."
In the meantime, Grace is about to launch her own show, Chick Fix, on Sky Living HD from July 12, in which she helps groups of women with their personal and professional problems.
