Great British Bake Off's Sue Perkins 'shed a tear' in show farewell

Great British Bake Off presenter Sue Perkins was left in tears after recording her final voiceover for the hit show.

The baking competition hit the headlines earlier this year after Love Productions, the company that makes the programme, announced it was switching to Channel 4.

Perkins and co-host Mel Giedroyc opted to stay at the BBC alongside judge Mary Berry as Paul Hollywood became the only member of the original team to follow the show.

On Wednesday, Perkins posted on Twitter that she had recorded her last voiceover for the programme.

She wrote: "Not ashamed to admit I just shed a tear at my final ever Bake Off voice over.

"Farewell my tenty chum x."

The show's Christmas special will mark the last time the show airs on the BBC before the channel-switch next year.

Earlier this month, Hollywood called the reaction of his move "out of control" and likened his media treatment to that of serial killer Peter Sutcliffe.

He also said he expected the Bake Off format to stay "exactly the same" despite the channel switch.
