Griffin: Not working is stressful
Angela Griffin has set up her own production company as an antidote to the stress of not working.
The Waterloo Road actress said although she was in work for a long time, in recent months her luck ran out.
Talking about whether she would be happy for her daughters to go into showbiz, she said: "I just don't know if showbusiness makes people happy any more. It makes them all depressed."
Angela said she wasn't depressed, but admitted: "It's really hard, really tough. You might have a couple of years of brilliance, but have to keep plugging at it.
"I had a really lucky 20-year streak of not stopping, but I've had six months now where I haven't been working, and it's not nice - I don't want my daughters to feel like this. You've got to develop such a thick skin as well, because ultimately, you've got people giving you a job based on how you look and what you're like."
Angela, 36, has now started her own production company.
She said: "This is my answer to not working for six months - I just can't do nothing, I've got to have something to do. So me and a producer friend I met when I was on Waterloo Road have started Mulberry Films, to develop new projects, most of them with me in, of course, but there are a few that I'm not involved in. But I'm really interested in what goes on behind the camera.
" I'm absolutely loving it."
