Gwen: Pharrell’s my life coach!
Gwen Stefani has gushed over her “inspiring” friend and The Voice colleague, Pharrell Williams.
The 45-year-old has had an epic music career to date as the front woman of Grammy award winning band No Doubt, and now she’s working alongside the Happy hitmaker on The Voice. And she admits Pharrell has been responsible for “motivating” her for years now.
“He’s like, been coaching me along in my life,” she gushed in an interview with Access Hollywood. “He’s like a life coach! It’s been really amazing to be next to him and around him. He’s really motivating and inspiring. I could just keep going!”
The pair have worked together on multiple occasions in the past. Pharrell has produced a lot of Gwen’s music, including a track called Spark the Fire on her latest solo album.
She even joined him on stage at this year’s Coachella Music Festival in California as a surprise guest, where she performed Hollaback Girl. But she says working as a coach on the hit NBC series has helped the pair get to know each other even better.
“We’ve gone to a different level now. We knew each other, but I feel like we really know each other now,” Gwen told the show’s hosts. “I feel like we’ve had… it’s been a long time and we’ve been through so many different things and now we’re going through this, so, I don’t know, how else can you say it? The longer you know someone the better you know them.”
The current season of The Voice is soon to be over, and whether or not Gwen will return to her position next season is still not known. She did, however, express a desire to remain on board if producers asked her back.
She also admitted she finds it hard to say farewell to contestants each week as the competition progresses.
“I want them to all to stay on!” she lamented. “I want us to all be on TV forever! I don’t want it to end.”
